Which Nothing Phone models are supported?

Serious Glyph Tuner supports Nothing Phone 1, Nothing Phone 2, and all later Nothing Phone models with the Glyph Interface. The app requires NothingOS and the Glyph API to be active.

The Glyph LEDs aren't lighting up. What do I do?

The Glyph Interface must be enabled on your device. Go to Settings → Glyph Interface and make sure it's turned on. If you're running a developer build of the app, the Glyph API debug mode may need to be re-enabled after 48 hours — this is a Nothing OS limitation for development builds.

What permissions does the app need?

The app requires microphone access to detect pitch from your instrument. This is the only sensitive permission requested. We do not access your contacts, location, camera, or storage. Analytics are collected via PostHog and Sentry — see our privacy policy for full details.

Does it work with instruments other than guitar?

Yes. Chromatic mode detects any pitch across the full musical range. Instrument presets are available for guitar (E2–E4), bass guitar (E1–G2), ukulele, and violin. The tuner will work with any instrument that produces a clear fundamental frequency.

How accurate is the pitch detection?

The app uses the YIN algorithm with a 4096-sample analysis window. In controlled testing against 14,000+ samples it achieves 100% frequency accuracy and 100% cents accuracy across all standard guitar strings. Low E (E2) requires the longest analysis window and may respond slightly slower than higher strings.

What's the difference between needle mode and rotation mode?

Needle mode lights a moving segment along the Glyph arc — like a physical analogue needle tuner. Rotation mode cycles LED segments clockwise when sharp and counter-clockwise when flat, like a traditional strobe tuner. Both modes show a steady centre state when in tune within ±3 cents. You can switch between them in the app settings.

The tuner seems slow to respond on low E. Is that normal?

Yes, this is expected. The low E string (82 Hz) has a very long wavelength — the algorithm needs to see at least several complete cycles before it can reliably detect the pitch. At 44,100 Hz sample rate with a 4096-sample window, this takes roughly 93ms. Higher strings respond noticeably faster.

Can I use the metronome at the same time as the tuner?

The metronome and tuner are separate modes — you switch between them using the bottom navigation. Running both simultaneously is not currently supported, as each requires full use of the Glyph LEDs.

How do I use tap tempo?

In the metronome screen, tap the large beat button repeatedly to the rhythm you want. After two taps the app calculates your BPM. Keep tapping to refine it. The BPM updates in real time.
